Project workshop in the JVA Lichtenberg

As part of the papier & klang festival, the artist Fee Kleiß offers a project workshop in the field of experimental sculpture in the closed prison of the Lichtenberg correctional institution (JVA). The women in the prison are to be offered the opportunity to experiment with paper, glue and pigments. Basically, the aim is to enable the women to participate in art and culture, from which they are otherwise largely cut off in the prison.

In the workshop, shapes are developed from sheets of handmade paper with a high grammage and fixed in these states to form three-dimensional structures with the help of various glues. The open workshop will take place in parallel with an exhibition of the artist's objects made specifically for the prison, which is planned as part of the papier & klang festival. These objects will be presented in the huge double-glazed windows in the old building in the passage to the day room.

The exhibition in the prison is scheduled to open at the end of June and afterwards the jointly designed objects will be presented to the public together with the artist's objects in the Museum of Communication Berlin.
