Verena Freyschmidt

Verena Freyschmidt was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1975 and now lives and works in Offenbach and Hanau. She studied art history and art education at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. She then studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Mainz and at the Duesseldorf Art Academy. From 2020 to 2021 she has a teaching position for art practice at the Kunsthochschule in Kassel and a teaching position for drawing at the Alanus Hochschule fuer Kunst und Gesellschaft in Alfter near Bonn. She is also a member of SPAM-contemporary, an off-space in Duesseldorf. She has received numerous grants and awards, including the Stiftung Kunstfonds / Neustart Kultur 2022 scholarship, the Stiftung Kulturwerk 2021 scholarship, and a working scholarship from the state of Saxony-Anhalt 2021. She has also been the recipient of artist residencies in various countries, including Austria, Hungary, and Malaysia.
