Jutta Steudle

The room installation consists of several paper webs or pieces of paper. These are partially coated with paint or varnish, then folded, crumpled and wrung to the limit of resilience. Injuries in the form of tears, holes or flaking paint can occur in the process, but these are accepted. The processed paper webs hang down from several rods that are attached on site. They swing in the air or spill out onto the floor. Both the force of the process, the tearing, crumpling and crinkling, and the delicacy, the light swinging of the thin papers are to be made tangible. The traces of previous actions, can be seen and felt. The colors and varnishes used, mostly pastel tones, also reinforce the delicacy of the material, but are also in contradiction to the sometimes strong interventions that have been made.
