Anca Munteanu Rimnic
Loss and incompleteness are recurring themes in Anca Munteanu Rimnic's multifaceted work.
Her works are characterized by subjectification and self-reflection. In photographs, sculptures, videos and performances, she deals with everyday and natural phenomena in a tragicomic way. Her sensitivity to the grotesque of human existence was formed under the impact of the loss of her Romanian homeland.
In her work Cut out, on loan from the Contemporary Art Collection of the Federal Republic of Germany, Munteanu Rimnic refers to her homeland. The collage of paper and Japanese ink, created in 2015, traces the absence of a Romanian kilim in its original size, 255.6 × 176.6 × 5.5 cm. In this way, this absence of cultural identity and incompleteness is made tangible for the viewer.

Biography
Anca Munteanu Rimnic was born in Bucharest, Romania, in 1974. She lives and works in Berlin.
She studied fine arts at the Berlin University of the Arts, studied at the Artcenter Pasadena, Los Angeles with Mike Kelley & Jack Goldstein as well as at Cal Arts, Los Angeles with John Baldessari her Master of Fine Arts. She received various grants, among others from the Heinrich Böll Foundation, Carl Duisberg Society, Stiftung Kunstfonds as well as a DAAD scholarship for the Center of Contemporary Art Kitakyushu, Japan.
Since 2022 she is represented in the collection of contemporary art of the Federal Republic of Germany with her works.
Her works are shown nationally as well as internationally in institutions and galleries, such as at the Biennale Timisoara and the Performance Biennale Buenos Aires, in the Cinemepherme Paris, at the Kunsthalle Vienna, at the Tinguely Museum Basel, at Sadie Coles London, at the MUCEM Marseille, at the Museo Madre Naples and at the Neumarkt Theater Zurich.
